On August 27, during the Indiana Fever game against the Seattle Storm at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Lexie Hull suffered a hard collision with Gabby Williams. While attempting to recover the ball, the two players collided head-to-head.

Hull was briefly taken off the court and sent to the locker room but returned to the game with a prominent bump on her forehead.

The resulting bruising caused Lexie Hull to develop the famous “raccoon eyes,” caused by blood accumulating under the skin and spreading to the tissues around the eyes.

Hull told IndyStar that, although the incident was shocking, she felt relieved after receiving immediate medical attention and confirming that her condition was stable.

Despite the blow, Lexie Hull didn’t miss any games, contributing to the Fever strong performance. The team finished sixth and came within one win of the WNBA Finals before falling in overtime in Game 5 against the Las Vegas Aces.
