Indiana Fever has made strategic moves this offseason with the clear goal of maximizing Caitlin Clark impact in her rookie year in the WNBA, after leading the team back to the playoffs for the first time since 2016.
And this Sunday, they surprised everyone by adding another player, who was teammates with Angel Reese on the Chicago Sky last season.

New player for Indiana Fever

After strengthening their roster with experienced players in free agency, including versatile DeWanna Bonner, guard Sophie Cunningham, and forward Natasha Howard, Indiana Fever has made another significant move by adding Brianna Turner, as reported by Chloe Peterson of IndyStar Sports.
“Brianna Turner has reached an agreement with Indiana Fever, according to the WNBA transaction page,” Peterson shared on X. “A key addition that brings more stability to the team’s paint.”

After her time with Notre Dame Fighting Irish from 2014 to 2019, Brianna Turner was selected 11th overall in the 2019 WNBA Draft by Atlanta Dream, but was quickly traded to Phoenix Mercury.
During five seasons, she shared the court with legends like Diana Taurasi and Brittney Griner, establishing herself as an elite defender and earning a spot on two All-Defensive teams.

New signing’s history with Indiana Fever

Before the 2024 WNBA Draft, where Clark and Reese began their professional careers, Chicago Sky traded for Turner in exchange for Kahleah Copper. During her brief stint with the team, she averaged 1.2 points and 2.0 rebounds per game.
Although her recent stats are not particularly eye-catching, her addition will provide Indiana Fever with stronger defensive depth and more presence in the frontcourt.
