Rose BC was crowned champion of the inaugural Unrivaled tournament in a night filled with excitement and glory.

However, the absence of Reese stood out. One of the team’s most prominent players was unable to be there to celebrate in person.

Even though Rose defeated Vinyl BC 62-54 in the final, Angel Reese had to settle for joining the celebration in an unexpected way.

The reason behind her absence

Angel Reese suffered a wrist injury during the last regular-season game on March 10, forcing her to miss the playoffs.

Despite her desire to be on the court, doctors confirmed she wouldn’t be able to play, a tough blow for the WNBA star.

On Monday night, while her teammates celebrated the championship, Angel Reese was on a flight, preventing her from joining the festivities in person.

However, she refused to let distance keep her from the special moment and joined the celebration via video call from the plane, showing her unwavering support and commitment to the team.

Although she couldn’t contribute on the court during the playoffs, Angel Reese impact throughout the season was undeniable.

Chelsea Gray led Rose BC to victory, earning Finals MVP honors with a stellar performance of 18 points and 8 assists, helping the team overcome Angel Reese’s absence.

Despite the injury, Angel still secured a significant reward. Her participation in Unrivaled earned her a total salary of $300,000, an amount close to her rookie contract in the WNBA. Now, her focus will be on recovery and returning stronger for the upcoming season.
