Tom Brady doesn’t need to be on the field to remain a dominant figure in the NFL. From his new role as an analyst at FOX Sports and author of the newsletter 199, the seven-time Super Bowl champion is back doing what he does best—raising the bar. This time, his message isn’t aimed at a specific rival, but at the entire league. And it’s not exactly uplifting. “I’ve got bad news,” wrote Brady, referring to teams that rely more on hope than on real preparation.

For Tom Brady, hope isn’t a strategy. It’s just a starting point. “Hope means acting to reach your goals, not simply wishing they’ll come true”. He stated in his newsletter, as cited by Marca. His criticism targets franchises that, year after year, repeat optimistic speeches without backing them up with solid culture, effective leadership, and rigorous preparation.

Adjusting the formula

As teams fine-tune their rosters for the 2025/2026 season, Tom Brady is looking beyond stats. He wants to know what coaches are doing, how players are staying healthy, what kind of leadership exists in the locker room, and whether the team’s internal culture aligns with its goals. “If a team doesn’t have answers to those questions, that hope lasts about a quarter,” Brady warned.

At the same time, Tom Brady is involved in building a more competitive Las Vegas Raiders team, aiming to challenge the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West. While his role is more institutional, Brady’s winning mentality continues to set the tone.

Rankings

According to recent ESPN rankings, teams like the Eagles, Ravens, Chiefs, Bills, and Lions are well-positioned thanks to strong structure and leadership. Meanwhile, franchises like the Saints, Giants, Panthers, Jets, and Falcons face a steeper climb. How they respond to Tom Brady’s challenge could define their season.

Tom Brady doesn’t speak just to speak. His philosophy demands effort, discipline, and consistency. So if Brady has bad news for your team, it might be time to revisit the plan—before it’s too late.
