Shedeur Sanders responds firmly with his own style
Ryan, a former NFL coach and analyst, had publicly questioned the young quarterback’s preparation and attitude, criticizing his confidence and calling for greater commitment.
“This kid talks and talks nonstop. As he said, ‘I can be a starting quarterback’… Get in the front row, study, and do all that… Stop being such a disgrace. You have the talent to be a quarterback, you should be,” Ryan said.

Family support and Sanders uncertain path to starting
The Sanders family quickly stepped in. Pilar Sanders, Shedeur mother, posted on Instagram condemning what she described as toxic and envious energy.
“For young athletes and football fans… This is what rude, cancerous, and envious energy looks like. There’s no place for this type of person in sports,” she wrote before deleting the post.
Deion Sanders, father and former head coach at Colorado, also publicly highlighted his son’s work ethic and resilience.
Despite the media attention, Shedeur Sanders role with the Browns remains uncertain. With Dillon Gabriel solidifying the starting position after Joe Flacco’s departure, Sanders remains an emergency quarterback.
Coach Kevin Stefanski has avoided giving details about Sanders progress, keeping expectations high for when he might debut.
Meanwhile, Shedeur Sanders stays calm, showing that his leadership and commitment don’t depend on immediate starting status.
His message has resonated across the NFL, beyond the criticism, Sanders focuses on growth, supporting the team, and trusting the process, making it clear that his time will come.
