Kevin Stefanski demands more from Sanders despite a win that excites fans

Kevin Stefanski is still keeping the most important decision of the week for the Cleveland Browns in suspense, who will be the starting quarterback against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 12.

Dillon Gabriel’s injury during the 23-16 loss to the Baltimore Ravens opened the door for rookie Shedeur Sanders to make his NFL debut, replacing the starter and leaving a first impression that raised both doubts and expectations.

Shedeur Sanders and the uncertainty in Cleveland

The young Sanders completed 4 of 16 passes for 47 yards and threw an interception to Nate Wiggins in a debut full of challenges. After the game, Kevin Stefanski made it clear that they are still evaluating whether the rookie will start.

“We’ll analyze it. He’s going to fight like always. Surely there are things we can improve. Those are things we’ll look at tomorrow,” he said.

The coach emphasized his confidence in all players, including Sanders. “We trust them to perform, and he is no exception. Playing a backup role is tough. But we trust him. I know there are things he’ll want to improve, but that’s what we work for.”

These words reflect Stefanski prudence in a situation of uncertainty that could redefine the Browns’ season.

Kevin Stefanski: Team evaluation and strategic focus

Beyond the offense, Kevin Stefanski analyzed the team’s defensive performance, highlighting the efforts of Myles Garrett and the defensive line, who recorded four sacks on Lamar Jackson.

“I think there were outstanding moments from our defense. Keeping them to field goals in the red zone was very important,” he said.

Stefanski also praised the special teams while acknowledging areas for improvement after allowing touchdowns on kick returns.

“There are a couple of coverage plays I know we can improve. But we have a proud group that wants to get better,” he added.

Regarding Mark Andrews’ game-deciding touchdown for the Ravens, Stefanski noted that it was the result of well-designed plays and situations that require strategic adjustments. “You know they have plays based on those formations, obviously well designed by them.”

With a 2-8 record, the Browns are aiming to avoid a losing season while Kevin Stefanski faces the pressure of making crucial decisions to determine who will lead the offense during a critical part of the campaign.
