The Dallas Cowboys have had a challenging offseason filled with key decisions to bolster their roster ahead of the 2025 season.

With over 20 free agents on their roster and a tight salary cap due to Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb’s contracts, the team had to act swiftly and strategically to stay competitive in the NFC.

The franchise’s top priority remains securing a contract extension for its defensive superstar, Micah Parsons, who is on track to become the highest-paid non-quarterback in the league.

However, the Dallas haven’t stood still, they’ve made significant free agency moves to strengthen both their defense and offense.

New faces in Dallas Cowboys and key reinforcements for 2025

With an urgent need for defensive stability, the Cowboys signed defensive tackle Solomon Thomas, formerly of the New York Jets, to a two-year, $8 million contract.

Additionally, they acquired defensive end Payton Turner, previously with the Saints, on a one-year, $3 million guaranteed deal.

On the offensive side, Jerry Jones’ franchise brought in running back Javonte Williams from the Broncos on a one-year, $3 million contract, expecting him to add explosiveness to the ground game.

They also signed offensive lineman Robert Jones from the Dolphins on a one-year, $4.75 million deal, reinforcing the line that protects Prescott.

Among key re-signings, the Cowboys secured defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa with a four-year, $80 million extension and retained special teams standouts like CJ Goodwin and KaVontae Turpin, ensuring stability in return and coverage units.

Who’s saying goodbye to the Dallas Cowboys?

It hasn’t been all additions for the Cowboys. One of the most significant losses is veteran Zack Martin, who announced his retirement after a decade of dominance on the offensive line.

Additionally, cornerback Jourdan Lewis signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as the highest-paid slot corner in the league, leaving a gap in the secondary.

Tackle Chuma Edoga, who finished last season as a starter on the offensive line, also departed, along with defensive end Chauncey Golston, who had a breakout year in 2024 and is now joining the Giants.

Micah Parsons’ future remains unresolved, but one thing is clear, the Cowboys are making every move necessary to stay at the top.
