Hydration in a game is paramount. It ensures players can perform at their peak without falling victim to dehydration. However, it seems that in the break area, the Warriors provided some oddly flavored liquids. Or perhaps, not to everyone’s liking.

One such player was Golden State Warriors‘ shooting guard, Brandin Podziemski, who looked disappointed with what he had to drink. This incident happened during Jimmy Butler’s home debut. In a game where the Warriors triumphed over the Mavericks 126-102, it wasn’t clear if hydration played a part, or perhaps it did.

Warriors and their drinks

A curious and funny video shared by houseofhighlights on Instagram shows Brandin Podziemski coming off the court in mid-game action. The player, wearing jersey number 2, looks exhausted and sits on the bench next to Jimmy Butler.

They exchange a few words, staying focused on the game. Then, a member of the Warriors‘ coaching staff hands Podziemski a bottle containing a milky-looking liquid. Without much inspection, he opens it and drinks it quickly.

However, it seems Podziemski did not enjoy the taste of the Warriors‘ drink. His grimaces were ones of rejection, and he even gagged, disapproving of the flavor. A similar bottle was also in Butler’s hands, but he didn’t seem to mind the taste.

Reaction on social media

The moment, captured on video, hit social media with the title “What was in there?” Fans have not stopped commenting. Users are split on whether it was a mistake by the Warriors staff or just bad-tasting electrolytes.

Among jokes, many users and Warriors fans commented that it was liquor. “Looked like he said ‘there’s vodka in that,'” wrote one. Another comment read, “Who had Patron in their water bottle?” referring to tequila.

Many laughed, suggesting it was Butler’s coffee or some magic potion for the Warriors to dominate the court. “The secret potion from Space Jam,” “Good old alkaline, the thickest of waters,” were some of the comments.

It’s not precisely known what was inside the bottle, but Podziemski’s grimace caused a stir and sparked a big debate. Whatever it was, the Warriors emerged victorious that night, and the player only had a bad taste in his mouth.
