Luka Doncic revealed the true extent of his weight loss during the NBA offseason. The Los Angeles Lakers star faced heavy criticism at the end of the 2024–25 season for his weight gain.

Now that he’s back in shape, Doncic looks like a different person. He’s not only shedding excess weight, but also gaining muscle mass. Without a doubt, he’s determined to give his all to lead the Lakers to victory next season.

Discipline and consistency drive his success

According to the New York Post, Doncic began training twice a day in Croatia, as he shared with Men’s Health magazine. He’s also following a gluten-free, low-sugar diet. Each day, he consumes 250 grams of protein and drinks a shake with almond milk.

This new routine seems to be working well for him. Doncic said he has already lost 31 pounds. In an interview with Slovenian Pop TV, the Lakers player said: “So every summer I try to work on different things… Obviously, I’m very competitive. This summer was a bit different, you know. It motivated me to be even better. Just visually, I’d say my whole body looks better.”

On top of that, Doncic posted on X: “I just signed my extension with the Lakers. Excited to keep working to bring championships to Los Angeles and make Laker Nation proud… Grateful to the Lakers, my teammates, and all the fans who’ve shown so much love since day one. This is just the beginning.”

NBA reports indicate that Doncic’s eating habits and physical condition deeply concerned Mavericks GM Nico Harrison. That concern ultimately led him to trade Doncic to Los Angeles, a highly controversial move among NBA fans.
