JJ Redick once again became the center of attention following the Lakers heavy 122-102 defeat against a depleted Hawks team last Saturday.

With Atlanta missing four key starters, including Trae Young, and Los Angeles fielding most of their main players, few expected such a decisive outcome.

However, the team’s performance was questionable from the first minute, and Redick did not hide his frustration after the game.

JJ Redick and the early warning

The former player and now Lakers coach left the postgame press conference in anger, making it clear that he had sensed the defeat within the first two minutes.

“I realized that in the first two minutes of the game,” he admitted to reporters, adding with a touch of irony, “Nothing.”

The session lasted barely a minute and a half, enough to convey JJ Redick anger and disappointment over his team’s lack of intensity.

Despite having Luka Doncic and other key rotation players available, Los Angeles could not impose their game on the first night of a five-game road trip.

JJ Redick frustration is also explained by the team’s previous five-game winning streak, marked by a level of intensity that they could not replicate against Atlanta.

The lesson of intensity and focus

JJ Redick made it clear that he does not plan to ignore this game, he will analyze the loss in the locker room and look to extract lessons for the future.

In such a competitive Western Conference, every result is crucial. Although the Lakers had more players available than the Hawks, significant absences in the previous ten games and the lack of intensity determined the outcome.

This defeat represents only the team’s third loss of the season, and JJ Redick is confident it will not be cause for alarm.

Beyond individual player quality, the coach emphasizes that intensity is a controllable factor.

With a relatively manageable upcoming matchup against the Hornets, the Lakers hope to bounce back and regain the momentum that has kept them near the top of the conference standings.
