Draymond Green and the controversy after the OKC loss
During the postgame press conference and on his Threads account, Draymond Green emphasized, “Who said it was the young guys, Kevin? I said US!” making it clear that he included all Warriors, himself among them.
With his direct and unfiltered style, Green stressed that he speaks for himself and does not need others to interpret his words.
The 35-year-old star also defended his right to express his opinions both in the media and on his podcast, noting that constructive criticism is a key part of his leadership.

Green retaliation against the reporter
The controversy escalated when journalist Kevin O’Connor claimed that Green and other veterans “looked askance” at Jonathan Kuminga and Brandin Podziemski.
Draymond Green response was immediate and forceful. On Threads, the forward wrote, “One thing is for sure, I don’t beat around the bush, and you don’t have to speak for me. I SPEAK FOR MYSELF! ALWAYS!”
He also mocked the reporter’s analyses, recalling failed predictions about other players and exposing O’Connor’s lack of in-depth NBA knowledge.
Green took the opportunity to highlight his leadership in the locker room and how honesty and self-criticism are essential to keeping the Warriors competitive, especially after a rocky start to the season that has left the team with an uneven record.
The Golden State star showed that his commitment to excellence goes beyond pointing out mistakes; it includes taking responsibility and leading by example.
