Bronny James has returned to the Lakers—or at least that’s what we thought. After shining in the G League, where he led South Bay to an 18-point victory against the Valley Suns, the Lakers called up the young point guard just in time for their matchup against the Jazz. Clearly impressed with his performance, the Lakers aimed to strengthen their backcourt rotation. James spent the last 48 hours with the South Bay Lakers, refining his game before the team called him up again to the main squad.

The former USC standout has been generating buzz in the G League, averaging 22.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game.
However, during his outstanding performance against the Valley Suns, he had a moment on the court that left everyone concerned.

Bronny James rough landing

An unexpected setback derailed his plans to return to the NBA. He has been ruled out of the matchup against the Jazz due to a strain in his left forearm. It all happened midway through the quarter while South Bay was in control of the game. Bronny saw an open lane and wasted no time in taking it. He exploded toward the rim and delivered a jaw-dropping dunk that sent the crowd into a frenzy.

Before the excitement could settle, the unexpected happened. His landing was anything but smooth—he fell awkwardly, hitting his head and side. His teammates and coaches immediately rushed to check on him, while from the sidelines, Savannah James watched on with clear concern for her son’s well-being.
Fortunately, it wasn’t serious. He regained possession of the ball and finished the game. The injury is costing the rookie valuable playing time in the NBA, right when he had a major opportunity, while Dalton Knecht is still processing what happened.
