Ayesha Curry recently spoke about her personal journey, revealing that she initially didn’t see herself as a wife or mother.

Before her life with Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry, Ayesha focused on her professional career and personal growth.

However, her statements sparked a wave of criticism from fans who interpreted her words as a lack of commitment to her marriage.

Gilbert Arenas defends Ayesha Curry

Former Warriors player Gilbert Arenas broke his silence and publicly defended Ayesha Curry. In a video shared on X, Arenas said, “Everyone’s mad at Ayesha Curry, like she told Steph to sleep on the couch.”

“She simply said she didn’t want to be a wife or mother back then. Come on, half of you don’t even want to go to work on Mondays! Let that woman be honest in peace. Steph is still winning on and off the court.”

Arenas emphasized that the negative reaction from some fans stemmed from a misunderstanding of Ayesha Curry intentions and clarified that her relationship with Steph has always been authentic and rooted in mutual respect.

“Maybe I’m the only one on his wife’s side because I understand what she’s saying and the fact that so many people hate her. They’re lost, sorry. They don’t really understand what she means,” Arenas added, highlighting that Ayesha approached the relationship from an independent and confident position.

Honesty and respect as pillars of the relationship

According to Arenas, at the start of her relationship, Ayesha Curry didn’t see herself with children or as a basketball wife.

“She didn’t see herself as a groupie or a gold digger. She just wanted to marry Steph while being independent and successful on her own. Her intentions were genuine, just for him, and not motivated by money or status,” Arenas explained.

This defense of Ayesha Curry surprised many fans and revealed a human, honest side of the WNBA star, highlighting how personal independence and honesty can coexist with love and commitment in marriage.

The conversation about Ayesha also sparks a debate about societal expectations for women in sports culture, emphasizing the importance of respect and authenticity in relationships.
