Carlos Alcaraz will undergo an MRI on Monday, November 17, following concerns over a hamstring injury sustained during his loss to Jannik Sinner in the ATP Finals final in Turin, Italy.

Despite the scare, Alcaraz will end the year as world No. 1, but his participation in the 2025 Davis Cup Finals could be in doubt.

Carlos Alcaraz and the concerns after the Turin final

During the ATP Finals final, which Sinner won 7-6(4), 7-5, Carlos Alcaraz requested medical assistance after feeling discomfort in his right hamstring.

His physiotherapist applied a massage, and it was later confirmed that Alcaraz will undergo further tests to determine the severity of the injury.

Reports indicate that the first signs of discomfort appeared during his semifinal match against Félix Auger-Aliassime, where Alcaraz displayed his usual dominance but felt tension in the affected area.

This loss to Sinner marked the sixth time Alcaraz has fallen to the Italian in 16 encounters, adding a sporting frustration to his physical concerns.

Still, Carlos Alcaraz remains determined to finish the season with strong commitment to Spain.

The Davis Cup challenge for Alcaraz

After the Turin final, Carlos Alcaraz made it clear that his goal remains to play in the 2025 Davis Cup Finals in Bologna, Italy.

“Tomorrow we travel to Bologna and will see how the injury evolves over the next few days. My intention is to play in the Davis Cup,” said the 22-year-old.

Despite the discomfort, he assured that he could maintain his performance during the final. “I felt something in my hamstring after reaching for a serve. I could still play well, even with the injury.”

Alcaraz concluded the 2025 ATP Tour season with an impressive record: 71 wins, only 9 losses, and eight titles, including key victories at Roland Garros and the US Open.

His leadership and performance solidify his position as world No. 1, but the recovery of his hamstring will be crucial in determining his participation in the Davis Cup, where Spain hopes to rely on its star to keep its title aspirations alive.
