Carlos Alcaraz closed the year as world No. 1, despite his defeat against Jannik Sinner in the ATP Finals in Turin.

However, far from the spotlight and the pressure of tournaments, his heart remains very close to his hometown.

During the preseason, Alcaraz has been relaxing in the Maldives, where he even met the late Argentine tennis star Juan Martín del Potro.

But his latest social media post has sparked the curiosity of his followers: a quiet breakfast accompanied by the Real Murcia match, his hometown club.

A bond that goes beyond sport

In the image shared by Carlos Alcaraz, a phone could be seen on the table while he followed the Real Murcia match, and he added a heart emoji after tagging the team’s official Instagram account.

This simple gesture highlights the special connection the young tennis player maintains with his city and club.

It’s no coincidence that on Wednesday, Real Murcia defeated Cádiz CF 3-2 in the Copa del Rey, a victory that Alcaraz likely celebrated from afar.

Carlos Alcaraz love for Real Murcia is not new. Born in El Palmar, Murcia, he has shown his support repeatedly, whether wearing the club’s shirts or through his social media posts.

He even wore the team’s shirt over his training uniform at Roland Garros, demonstrating that his affinity for local football is as strong as his passion for tennis.

Between tennis and football: Carlos Alcaraz loyalty

In November, Carlos Alcaraz received the Gold Badge of Honor from the Real Murcia Club de Tenis 1919, an award highlighting his bond with his hometown.

The club president, Antonio Saura, emphasized the importance of his example for future generations. “It is an honor to award the Gold Badge to someone we have watched grow on our courts and who represents a role model for all of us who love this sport.”

Alcaraz has stated in several interviews that football gives him a sense of home and stability that is hard to find in the world of tennis, where life constantly moves from hotel to hotel.
