In an exclusive interview with Ariel Helwani, Oscar De La Hoya opened up about his perspective, delivering a clear and direct message to Ryan García: “Mature. Forget that. Mature.”
De La Hoya explained that, while he understands the challenges related to mental health, there is a line that should not be crossed.
“I know people with real mental illnesses. But there’s a very thin line where you’re just acting like an idiot,” he stated.
The legendary promoter recalled how he took charge of García career when he was just 16 years old and guided him through every step of his professional development.
Despite the disputes, De La Hoya remains committed to his boxer’s success and continues his role as promoter, although most current communication is conducted through representatives.
