Max Verstappen from impressive comebacks to championship reality
After the summer break, Max Verstappen drastically improved his performance, stringing together victories and multiple podiums. His meteoric rise from the pits to the podium at the Brazilian GP kept his title hopes alive.
However, the 28-year-old acknowledged that the championship was lost not in Brazil, but much earlier.
“We didn’t lose the championship here or anything like that. We lost it from the first race up to Zandvoort. There were many weekends where we simply weren’t fast enough,” Verstappen explained.

Despite these obstacles, Verstappen noted that the team improved significantly after the break, scoring important points, though never enough to close the gap with Norris.
According to him, the season demonstrated how ruthless Formula 1 can be and how even a world champion can face limitations that don’t rely solely on talent.
Strategy and focus for Max Verstappen final races
Although Max Verstappen acknowledges that his chances of winning the title are slim, his motivation remains intact.
With three races left, the Dutchman will focus on scoring as many points as possible and optimizing every result.
Red Bull introduced significant upgrades to Verstappen car in Brazil. Allowing him to reach the podium and potentially providing an advantage on upcoming circuits.
Verstappen emphasized that each track presents unique challenges and that his team will focus on maximizing performance for the remainder of the season.
“These are very different circuits, so honestly, it’s hard to know. That’s what we need to focus on.”
Despite the challenges and the gap in the championship. Max Verstappen continues to prove why he is considered one of the greats in modern motorsport.
