LeBron James is making headlines again, this time, not for a feat on the court, but for a reflection that has left fans intrigued.

In the latest episode of his podcast “Mind the Game,” the Lakers star took a deep dive into one of the few players who still manages to challenge him both mentally and physically, Stephen Curry.

What began as a friendly conversation turned into one of James’ most candid statements about his longtime rival.

LeBron James and his highest praise for Stephen Curry

During the episode, LeBron James didn’t hold back when praising Curry off-ball movement, something he says makes the Warriors sharpshooter nearly impossible to defend.

“He’s more dangerous when he doesn’t have the ball,” James said, sitting alongside Curry and Steve Nash. “He makes you think you’ve done a good job when you exhale, and that’s exactly when he destroys you.”

The conversation, filled with mutual respect, brought back memories of their legendary battles in the 2016 NBA Finals.

Nash pointed out that Curry mere presence on the court completely alters defensive schemes.

LeBron James nodded, adding that his former opponent “moves the ball, creates space, and generates energy even without touching it.”

That dynamic, he explained, is what makes Curry a constant threat. “The ball has energy, but so does movement. Watching him is beautiful; defending him is a nightmare,” concluded LeBron James, drawing laughter and knowing smiles from the Warriors guard.

From Finals enemies to teammates under the same flag

The conversation also revealed how their relationship has evolved over time. From fierce rivals in four straight NBA Finals between Cleveland and Golden State, they went on to share the same locker room and leadership on Team USA, which won Olympic gold in Paris 2024.

Curry admitted that experience allowed him to see James discipline up close. “It’s impossible to beat him to the gym in the morning,” he said with a laugh.

LeBron James, for his part, acknowledged that Curry “changed the game forever” with his style and long-range precision.

What began as an epic rivalry has now transformed into a connection built on respect, legacy, and mutual admiration.
