Sophie Cunningham issues a playful warning while speeding up her post-surgery recovery
The surgery was performed earlier last week, and even with a leg brace, Sophie Cunningham has stayed active through court appearances, social media posts. And recordings of her podcast Show Me Something, strengthening her connection with fans.
Immediate impact in her debut season
Since joining the Indiana Fever, Cunningham has earned the admiration of the public. In her debut season, the guard averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 25.2 minutes per game.
Her ability to take on multiple defensive roles during the team’s injury crisis also made her a key piece of the rotation.

Her defensive performance against Caitlin Clark in an early-season matchup made her a fan favorite at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. And the nickname “Executive” given by fans reflects her leadership and determination.
Cunningham absence has been a significant blow to the Fever, but her return promises to reinvigorate the team for the next season.
Surprising revelations from rehabilitation
On her podcast, Cunningham shared little-known details about the challenges of her recovery. She admitted facing digestive complications and adverse reactions to pain medications, stating, “I react very strangely to medications. So I’ve had surgery three times, and my medications have always been different.”
Sophie Cunningham explained that even with hydrotherapy and post-operative care, she could feel every small cut and incision on her knee.
Nonetheless, despite these obstacles, her positive attitude and focus on rehabilitation indicate that her comeback will be stronger than ever.
