The excitement for the FIFA World Cup 2026 is already in the air, and Las Vegas is preparing for a historic return to the global football stage.

After 31 years without hosting key events for the world’s most-watched tournament, the Entertainment Capital could once again shine with an event that sets the tone for the championship, the official group stage draw.

FIFA World Cup 2026: Las Vegas returns to the global spotlight after three decades of waiting

Although FIFA has yet to confirm it officially, sources close to the organizing committee, including Mexican executive Pedro Cedillo, have hinted that Las Vegas will host the FIFA World Cup 2026 draw, tentatively scheduled for December 5.

All eyes are now on the potential venue. The futuristic and iconic Sphere Arena seems to be the frontrunner, promising an unprecedented visual experience thanks to its massive immersive LED screen.

However, other iconic locations like the Las Vegas Convention Center, which hosted the 1994 World Cup draw. Are also being considered, although scheduling conflicts could complicate the final decision. Regardless of the location, Las Vegas is once again a key stop on the road to the FIFA World Cup 2026.

The countdown has begun: Who’s in so far?

With less than a year to go before the tournament kicks off, spots are quickly filling up. Alongside host nations the United States, Mexico, and Canada, qualified teams already include Argentina, Brazil, Iran, Japan, and Australia.

In total, 48 nations will compete in what will be the largest FIFA World Cup ever held.

The tournament’s expansion has intensified the stakes in the qualification rounds. Especially across Africa and Asia, which now have more direct slots.

This new format not only raises the level of competition but also underscores the importance of the upcoming draw.

Is the glamour of the draw returning to the showbiz capital?

Las Vegas return to the FIFA World Cup calendar is more than just a footnote. It represents a perfect fusion of spectacle, strategy, and world-class football. And while the world awaits kickoff, the city is already beginning to shine.
