Andy Reid believes that Kelce had one of his worst statistical seasons since entering the NFL. The tight end recorded just 97 receptions, 823 yards, and 3 touchdowns—numbers that shocked fans but didn’t surprise Reid.
During the NFL owners’ meeting, Reid addressed Kelce’s situation, saying, “He’s willing to adjust. He’s learning when to step out, and he will when necessary. I believe that will continue as he ages.”

When discussing the Chiefs’ quarterback performance, Reid explained, “We suffered setbacks at wide receiver positions… That doesn’t help a tight end’s situation.” In other words, Kelce alone wasn’t enough to carry the team to victory in every game.
However, Kelce still had some bright spots in 2024. He surpassed Tony Gonzalez in total receptions and reached 12,000 career yards faster than many legendary quarterbacks in NFL history.
