Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders seems to be losing ground on his way to the 2025 NFL Draft. His recent behavior is pushing him away from the top spot he held earlier this year.

Shedeur decided not to attend the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. There, he had the opportunity to showcase his skills in front of every team but chose to skip the event. While this is common among projected top picks, it could have been a great opportunity for the Colorado Buffaloes star.

What happened with Shedeur Sanders?

According to Tony Pauline of Sportskeeda, some teams are not as excited about Sanders anymore. Was it because he skipped the Combine? Apparently, there’s more to the story.

“Teams are cooling on Shedeur Sanders for several reasons… The first is that Sanders showed little to no improvement in his game last season and made some bad decisions. People are also a bit put off by his antics since January.”

Pauline refers to the fact that Sanders did not throw at the Combine right after the Shrine Bowl. There, he was expected to participate in individual passing drills, but the 23-year-old only attended the field on the first day, making a brief visit in sweats.

Adding to this, Johnathan Jones of CBS Sports reported before the Combine that Sanders was “not giving it his all” when meeting with certain teams. This seemed to either frustrate or demotivate the Colorado player.

To make matters worse, Ian Rapoport reported that players like Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss) and Quinn Ewers (Texas) have impressed scouts so much that they are now competing for the second-best spot in the class. This proves that Sanders’ recent actions are only hurting his draft stock for the 2025 NFL Draft.

Despite this, Sanders had an excellent season, winning the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year award. He is expected to throw at the Big 12 Pro Day, scheduled for March 18-21 at The Star in Frisco, Texas. This might be his chance to bounce back, but it all depends on his performance.
