Humor and challenge in the face of adversity
The star responded with humor, asking the fan to give him both knees, joking about the severity of his injuries.
At 33 years old, Neymar is still dealing with serious aftereffects: in October 2023, he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear and meniscus damage while with the Brazilian national team, which required surgery and over a year of recovery.
🇧🇷😅 Neymar was warming up and a Santos fan shouted to him:
“NEYMAR, I’LL GIVE YOU MY KNEE SO YOU CAN PLAY.”
Neymar’s response? “I NEED BOTH.”

Despite these challenges, Neymar returned to Santos in January and, although he struggled to stay in shape, took on the responsibility of playing the final games of the season with a damaged meniscus.
His heroics translated into four goals and one assist in three crucial matches, including the 3-0 victory over Cruzeiro that secured Santos place in Serie A and qualification for the Copa Sudamericana.
Neymar statements and future
After the match, Neymar shared his thoughts with the press, revealing the sacrifice behind his performance.
“I came for this, to try to help as best I can. It’s been tough weeks for me. I’m grateful to those who supported me. If it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t have played these matches with these injuries, this knee problem. I need to rest and then have surgery on my knee,” he said (via ESPN).
Neymar played a total of 20 matches in the Brasileirão Serie A this season, scoring eight goals and providing one assist.
His commitment to Santos, despite injuries and the pressure to save the team from relegation, demonstrates his leadership and resilience on the field.
