It’s official. The Indiana Fever secured a playoff berth. This achievement is highly significant for the franchise, considering all the setbacks they faced in this second season. In response, Stephanie White delivered powerful remarks to her team.
The Fever’s head coach expressed her deep pride in her players’ accomplishment. Without Caitlin Clark and other injured stars, the playoffs seemed out of reach. However, the rest of the roster proved their resilience and earned the spot.
Reflections on the Fever’s journey
According to Athlonsports, five Indiana Fever players went down with injuries: Caitlin Clark, Sydney Colson, Aari McDonald, Sophie Cunningham, and Chloe Bibby. Even so, Stephanie White never lost hope that her team could reach the playoffs.
The road wasn’t easy. At one point, many believed the Fever would miss the postseason. The team, however, won four of their last six games, clinching their place in the competition.

After Sunday’s victory that sealed their playoff run, White shared her pride. She also reflected on the demanding path: “There’s a healthy celebration in the sense that we’ve achieved a goal, but also a mindset of ‘We still have work to do.’”
She continued: “I don’t know if relief is the right word—more like pride. I’m extremely proud of these women. With everything we’ve been through, most teams would have folded. But we kept getting stronger and reinvented ourselves. These women in the locker room deserve enormous credit for staying resilient, united, hungry, and on course.”
Now heading into the playoffs, White’s team will face a higher-seeded opponent, which will demand even more effort as they chase their ultimate goal: winning the competition that begins on September 14.
