The Indiana Fever’s winning streak is officially over. On Tuesday, they lost to the Los Angeles Sparks, and on Thursday, they suffered a crushing 95-60 defeat against the Phoenix Mercury. In response, head coach Stephanie White delivered a powerful message to her team.

This marked one of the team’s worst losses. It could hurt the players’ morale, especially with Caitlin Clark and other key players injured. The demanding WNBA regular season might be taking its toll through fatigue. But White refuses to let her team fall apart.

A much-needed boost for the Fever

According to Athlonsports, Stephanie White continues to believe in her team. After Thursday’s game, she made sure to encourage her players with a clear and heartfelt message.

“I’m proud of this group… We kept fighting. It wasn’t pretty… Sometimes you have games like this. But we kept fighting, kept playing hard. We stayed together,” she said during the postgame press conference.

Now, White faces a challenge beyond tactics: she must lift the spirits of her young team. On Saturday, they’ll play against the Chicago Sky, and they’ll need to be ready—both physically and mentally.

The coach added: “We talked about it… just staying together… Look, there are going to be days when your shots don’t fall. There will be days you feel stuck in the mud. We’re not immune to that, just like any other team. But it’s about the big picture—how we respond.”

“This group was still connected in our meetings. They stayed engaged in timeouts. They kept going out and executing on both ends, and that’s what matters. This is a team that has faced a lot all season long,” she continued.

Finally, White said: “We love each other. We support one another. In moments like this, that love still shows, and that’s one of the things I’m most proud of with this group.”

To her, losses like Thursday’s are opportunities. She believes they help reveal each player’s true character. And with that, she trusts things will improve over time.
