The Indiana Fever keep fighting for a WNBA 2025 playoff spot. Their victory over the Seattle Storm pushed them to sixth place with a 20-18 record. However, head coach Stephanie White knows she needs Caitlin Clark on the floor to go as far as possible.
Clark is pushing hard to return as soon as possible. She hasn’t played since July. After that, two key players, Sophie Cunningham and Aari McDonald, went down with injuries, which fueled Clark’s urgency to come back.
A return could happen in the Fever’s upcoming games
According to Athlonsports’ report before Monday’s WNBA game, White gave an update on Clark’s recovery. She explained that the All-Star went through a walkthrough but still needs full practice to prepare properly for game action.
“She went through our walkthrough yesterday… Today was really short before game time. She did that yesterday, and I want to see her in live practice. I want to see her build not only endurance but also handle full-court contact like in a real game. She needs multiple practices to avoid setbacks and to show how she performs despite fatigue,” White said.
The Fever still have six regular-season games left. On Clark’s potential return, White added: “Not necessarily full team practices, but at least three, four different structured sessions we can put together.”
So far this season, Clark has played only 13 games. Two injuries kept her sidelined longer than expected. She currently averages 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 8.8 assists per game. She likely wants to raise those numbers, but she must prepare carefully and avoid another injury.
