The Dallas Wings fell to the Las Vegas Aces on Sunday with a 106-87 defeat. After the game, Wings star Paige Bueckers delivered a strong message to the locker room.
During the matchup, Bueckers wasn’t the one who shined the most. In fact, A’ja Wilson stole the spotlight, scoring 34 points and taking advantage of the Wings’ defensive struggles.
According to Essentiallysports, Maddy Siegrist scored 23 points on 11-of-15 shooting and praised Wilson’s dominance: “An incredible player… Whether you guard her one-on-one or with two people, she will constantly shoot over. We just need to do a better job limiting her touches. When she catches it in the low or mid-post like that, there’s not much you can do.”
A quick analysis of the situation
For Paige Bueckers, however, the problem looked different. She addressed the Wings’ defense and sent a clear message: “Limit free throw attempts, limit threes… I think we did a decent job keeping them out of the paint, but they hit too many threes.” The Aces sank 37 three-point attempts, while the Wings only managed 28.

She added: “We need to keep people in front, avoid constant rotations and scrambling. That leads to open threes, to being too deep in the nail and in help positions, instead of paying more attention to the three-point line.” Bueckers pointed directly to a rotation problem.
Her criticism didn’t stop at the postgame press conference. On her podcast Levels to This, Bueckers revealed her frustration: “There are so many times I look at this team in the huddle, and everyone looks confused.”
WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes reacted: “Like, what did you just say? What are you trying to tell us? What do you want us to do? That’s not a good look… I can’t tell you how many times I watched the game, looked inside the huddle, and saw Paige Bueckers’ face like… I’m not sure what that is. I’m just going to do my own thing.”
