Nike announced on Monday that Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark will officially have her own signature line. However, the outcome was not what fans had expected. One detail didn’t sit well with the majority.

The sports brand recently partnered with Sabrina Ionescu of the New York Liberty, who launched her shoe in July, and with A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces, whose sneakers hit stores in May. Now it was Clark’s turn, and she expressed excitement about joining Nike.

A personal achievement, but not for her fans

According to Essentiallysports, Clark said she feels proud to take this step. In a statement, she explained: “Nike’s signature roster includes the greatest of all time, and I’m incredibly proud to join some of the best athletes in the world. I’m excited to share a first look at what we’ve started to build together.”

Last year, the Fever guard signed an eight-year, $28 million endorsement deal with Nike, becoming the brand’s newest official athlete.

The personal touch of that partnership came with a logo featuring two interlocking C’s. For Nike, the smaller letter represents “how Caitlin’s game was built from the inside out, a product of her passion for the sport, her relentless drive, and her constant pursuit of perfection.”

Clark added: “For me, this is more than a logo; it’s a dream come true. People always talk about leaving your mark on the game, and this is another way I can do that.”

Fans, however, reacted negatively. Some comments on X were harsh:

  • “A bad version of Mastercard or a weird eyeball! You can barely tell the two C’s apart.”

  • “It looks like COC. The C’s should be in different colors.”

  • “The more I stare at it, the more I just see an eyeball.”

  • “At first I thought it was the Gucci logo.”

In the end, the logo didn’t live up to fans’ expectations. One summed it up bluntly: “All this time, and this is what they came up with?”
