Kelsey Mitchell unintentionally became the leader of the Fever after Caitlin Clark left the court. With her motto, “All we have, all we need,” she pushed the team forward and helped secure a spot in the 2025 WNBA playoffs.
Mitchell currently averages 20.3 points per game, the highest in franchise history. She became a key factor in the team’s victories this season.
Mitchell’s drive and love for the game fuel her
According to EssentiallySports, in the game against the Lynx, Mitchell shined with 18 points, scoring the team’s first 10. She led the team in 24 different moments during the game, even though five Fever stars were already sidelined.
One of Mitchell’s biggest strengths is her versatility. Head coach Stephanie White emphasized:
“…We’ve had to put her on the best perimeter defenders or offensive players, especially those constantly in pick-and-rolls. We keep putting more on Mitchell’s plate, and she keeps accepting the challenge. I’m incredibly proud of her. She has carried this organization and deserves to keep elevating her game in every circumstance. She has carried us.”

This resilience saved the Fever from falling short in the regular season. Every injury raised the stakes for Mitchell, and she consistently stepped up.
“She just wants to play basketball… She’s a competitor… Every time we’ve had to reshuffle the guard rotation, she’s taken her game to another level. We’ve needed her. She has put this team on her shoulders,” added White.
When asked about her motivation, Mitchell explained:“You really have to care about the people you play with… I think it feeds into who we are as people. And you can all see it in us as a team.”
