Caitlin Clark will return to action after a season marked by injuries. The Indiana Fever star will play again on Friday during the U.S. women’s national team training camp in Durham, North Carolina. This marks her first competitive action since July 15, when she played her last game with the Fever in the 2025 WNBA season.
The camp brings together 18 players competing for a spot in the FIBA 2026 World Cup qualifying tournament in March. Among them are several Olympic gold medalists and her Indiana teammates, Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston.
A connection growing on and off the WNBA court
According to Athlonsports, Boston celebrated her 24th birthday during the camp, prompting a special message from Clark. Clark posted two photos with Boston on Instagram, expressing her excitement to reunite with the center during national team training. The two have built a strong bond since being selected by Indiana as consecutive number-one draft picks.

That relationship has become a key factor in their development. One of Clark’s standout moments, her record 19-assist game in 2024, included nine passes to Boston in pick-and-roll plays. Their chemistry has been clear since their debut together.
Clark enters the camp after a challenging season. She played only 13 games due to muscle injuries, including a groin issue that ended her season. Before her absence, she averaged 16.5 points, 5 rebounds, and 8.8 assists per game. Boston stepped up in her absence, leading Indiana to the WNBA semifinals with averages of 15 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists, earning All-WNBA and All-Defense honors.
Neither player participated in the 2024 Paris Olympics, despite having youth national team experience. Therefore, the camp represents an opportunity for both to prove they are ready to compete on the international stage.
