Angel Reese always speaks her mind honestly. She doesn’t hesitate to answer questions from the media. Despite her openness, she remains cautious about what could get out of control.
That’s exactly what the 23-year-old did at the end of the WNBA regular season. She refused to answer controversial questions in an interview she chose not to attend. Fans and reporters were surprised, but Reese took the step to protect her peace of mind.
No more uncomfortable questions
According to Firstsportz, Angel Reese knows that the media connects her with her fans. However, during the offseason, she stepped away from cameras, microphones, and reporters. She announced her league exit through her own podcast instead of attending the traditional team press conference.

“Even before the game, I fear what the media will ask. It could be the best question, but it will get twisted or framed differently… I don’t want to do an interview with anyone. Sometimes I’d rather accept the fine than talk to the media,” Reese said on her podcast.
With this move, the Chicago Sky star avoided exposing herself to unwanted questions about her future, especially after how her second WNBA season ended, which was not pleasant.
Rather than risk saying something wrong or getting uncomfortable with future-focused questions, she chose to step back. It was a bold and smart decision, even though it would cost her a fine. Reese shows she’s tired of unhealthy commentary and prefers not to give reporters a chance to intentionally twist things, which could trigger a media disaster.
