On a night that could have been a celebration, Angel Reese once again showed why she’s one of the most promising talents in the WNBA. Despite Chicago Sky’s 79-69 loss to the Seattle Storm, Reese delivered a standout double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. She also added two assists, two steals, and a block. With this performance, Reese reached her tenth game with at least 20 points and 10 rebounds—a mark that places her alongside franchise legends like Sylvia Fowles, Candice Dupree, and Elena Delle Donne as the only players in team history to achieve it.

The WNBA didn’t take long to highlight the milestone, posting on social media that Angel Reese hit this mark in just her second season as a pro. Averaging 14.4 points, 12.6 rebounds (leading the league), 3.8 assists, and 1.4 steals per game, the former LSU standout has become the emotional and competitive engine of a team that, unfortunately, hasn’t been able to keep pace with her.

Individual brilliance amid collective collapse

Outlets like Athlon Sports have pointed out the stark contrast between Angel Reese’s individual performance and the overall collapse of Chicago Sky. With a 9-30 record, the team is already mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. They sit just half a game ahead of the Dallas Wings, the league’s worst team. Even if Chicago wins its remaining four games, they’ll finish with a worse win percentage than last season’s 13-27. That alone confirms this campaign has been one to forget.

Beyond the stats, what stands out most about Angel Reese is her resilience. In a locker room weighed down by losses, Reese continues to compete with intensity. She makes it clear that her commitment goes far beyond the scoreboard. Her consistency on the court remains one of the few bright spots in a season defined by frustration.

Next stop

The upcoming matchup against Indiana Fever won’t change Chicago Sky’s fate, but it could be another stage for Angel Reese to keep building her legacy. In the WNBA, narratives matter just as much as numbers, and Reese is crafting hers in the middle of a season where everything else seems lost. At least for now.

At just 23 years old, Angel Reese is making history and redefining what it means to be a star in tough times. And even if the Chicago sky is overcast, Reese keeps shining.
