Andrew Haubner compared Angel Reese to a Buffalo Bills star in a way that first sounds unusual. However, he explained on the WNBA podcast No Cap Space that both athletes share common characteristics. The comparison involves Josh Allen, the NFL quarterback, and Angel Reese, the Chicago Sky forward.
Similar career paths in different sports
According to Essentiallysports, Haubner pointed out that Reese and Allen’s career paths look similar. He highlighted their mindset, potential, and skills as key factors that could take them far in sports.
Haubner emphasized one striking detail: both were drafted seventh overall in the first round. Reese went seventh in the 2024 WNBA Draft, while the Buffalo Bills selected Allen seventh in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Andrew’s most recent hot take: Angel Reese’s WNBA development and narrative feels somewhat similar to Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen.

He also noted that scouts saw them the same way: raw talents with high potential but without strong fundamentals. He explained, “Their potential was at an MVP level if they reached their ceiling, but getting them there would be a challenge.”
Development and improvement over time
Haubner added that Reese has improved as a passer and facilitator this year, much like Allen did after his early doubts in the NFL.
He explained: “Both attract followers because of their energy, passion, and intensity. Sometimes that intensity makes them try to play the hero, but it comes from their desire to win.”
Finally, he predicted: “If Angel Reese stays on this path, in 3-4 years we might talk about her the same way we talk about Josh Allen now—an MVP-level player once fundamentals match physical gifts.”
In the end, the comparison doesn’t sound far-fetched considering Reese’s current trajectory in the WNBA.
