A’ja Wilson, one of the most dominant players in WNBA history, uses her offseason to build something bigger than trophies. After she captured her fourth MVP award and third league championship with the Las Vegas Aces, the 29-year-old star channels her energy into expanding her family candle company, Burnt Wax, which she runs with her mother, Eva Wilson.

Now, Wilson spends her downtime enjoying life without the pressure of preseason training or the lure of lucrative offers from the new alternative league Unrivaled. She drives her business forward with determination and builds success on her own terms.

Wilson’s plans for the future

According to Essentiallysports, Wilson spends her offseason strengthening her entrepreneurial side. Although her net worth is estimated at around four million dollars, her goal is to build a business that reflects her identity and values.

“As a businesswoman, I truly enjoy running my candle business with my mom,” Wilson said in a recent interview. “During the season, my mom takes charge and makes sure everyone receives their candles, diffusers, and room sprays.”

Wilson’s passion for aromatherapy inspired her to create Burnt Wax, a company that helps her stay calm and focused throughout her career. She and her mother designed and launched a line of plant-based candles, diffusers, and air fresheners with bamboo wicks. Each product celebrates key moments from her athletic journey.

During the Paris 2024 Olympics, Wilson brought her personal candles to maintain her focus—and she secured another gold medal with Team USA.

Wilson prioritizes balance over constant competition. “I choose to relax and enjoy this time. The money is tempting, but my peace of mind matters more,” she said.

With this approach, A’ja Wilson proves that her leadership goes beyond basketball. She embodies excellence as both an athlete and an entrepreneur, inspiring a new generation of women to succeed on and off the court.
