Jerry Jones stunned NFL fans by openly addressing Micah Parsons’ future with the Dallas Cowboys. He expressed doubt about whether the star defender will stay with the team due to ongoing issues surrounding his contract extension.
While Jones already extended the contracts of Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, things are different with Parsons. The Cowboys’ owner made that distinction very clear in a recent statement.
A complicated negotiation
According to Bolavip, T.J. Watt became the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history with the Pittsburgh Steelers. That sets a benchmark Parsons likely won’t go below — he’s reportedly seeking at least $40 million per season. This massive figure appears to be the core of ongoing talks between Jones and Parsons.
“This is just hogwash… This is so disingenuous. You’re urgent? How are you urgent to get Micah on the field and get this thing done when you won’t call his agent?”@Chris_Broussard reacts Jerry Jones saying he’s “absolutely not” confident Parsons plays Week 1: pic.twitter.com/uzsCebIxel

When negotiations stalled, Parsons requested a trade, frustrated by Jones’ reluctance to meet his demands. However, things have taken a new turn. Jones now believes Parsons will eventually sign the extension.
“I bought the Cowboys with a handshake. It took about 30 seconds. I gave the number, we shook hands, and settled the details later. Just so you understand how I communicate with people I negotiate with. Let’s leave it at that. When it comes to player contracts, of course, it has to be in writing. All sides require it. We do have a written contract, but we’re still talking about renegotiating,” Jones said.
Jones also admitted there’s a real chance Micah Parsons might miss Week 1 of the NFL regular season, a crucial game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
In fact, Jones openly said he doesn’t believe Parsons will play. “Again, no. Absolutely not. A lot of that is his decision. How would I know that? I’m just saying — no. But I’m urgent. You all understand what’s on everyone’s mind and what’s being said. This is the moment. He’s the topic. It is what it is. We’ll either get through it, or we won’t.”
Now, all eyes are on the Cowboys’ star defender. He’s not making things easy for the front office, clearly unwilling to settle for less than what he believes he’s worth.
