Lio Messi is everywhere. The international star is part of popular culture, and that’s undeniable. Even the best reggaeton artists in the world mention him in their lyrics. When you’re a living football legend, you must get used to hearing your name frequently. But what do his kids think about it?

Well, the Inter Miami superstar recently gave an interview to @zanelowe for the MLS Season Pass. In it, he talked about his celebrity status and how he and his family feel about it, specifically about hearing “Messi” in chart-topping songs.

Several artists mention the Argentine in their lyrics. One of the most notable is Bad Bunny, an artist whose every release becomes a huge hit. Moreover, he hasn’t used Messi’s name just once; he mentions it in several songs. Messi revealed his kids’ reaction to this.

Messi’s kids’ reaction

Messi‘s kids are at an age where they’re developing and old enough to understand the lyrics. The eldest, Thiago, is 13, followed by Mateo, 11, and Ciro, 6. All three enjoy football and good music.

In the cited interview, the 37-year-old footballer said his three kids enjoy and get surprised when they hear “Messi” in some songs. Moreover, the world champion assured that even though his main focus is sports, he likes being part of music in some way.

“Honestly, it’s nice to be a part of music like that. To be considered in the lyrics by many artists. They’ve mentioned me in their songs, and honestly, it’s something very exciting for me, and I’m grateful,” Messi said.

Songs that mention him

The star and his kids enjoy music. It’s well-known that Messi has a liking for certain songs and artists. For example, he enjoys reggaeton from J Balvin, Pitbull, and Karol G. However, one of his favorites is Bad Bunny, as he has stated that he has several of his songs on his playlist.

Bad Bunny dedicated a line to Messi in his song “Monaco”: “What you do doesn’t impress me, it’s like scoring a goal after Messi and Maradona.” Additionally, in the song “Vuelve Candy B,” Bad Bunny references Messi’s arrival in the United States: “Since Messi has been in the USA, everyone knows who the G.O.A.T. is, it’s no longer Tom Brady, ey.”

With all this, the player and his three kids are delighted. “Honestly, it’s something very exciting for me, and I’m grateful to everyone who did it. He also said “I know that in all the lyrics, they mention me with a lot of love and always compliment me in some way. I enjoy it with my kids, my family,” Messi said.
