The Danish footballer, Andreas Christensen, has not had a good run this season with Football Club Barcelona. Since it started, the 28-year-old player has been in the shadows due to several situations keeping him off the pitch.

Moreover, it seems he will continue on the bench because Barcelona‘s head coach, Hansi Flick, reported that Christensen got injured during Saturday’s training. Consequently, the defender will miss the match against Real Sociedad on matchday 26 of the league.

Christensen’s new setback

During a press conference, Flick assured that Christensen will miss Sunday’s match. It appears to be a recurrence of an injury. Remember, the player has been dealing with soleus muscle issues. He was cleared last Wednesday, but it seems the injury resurfaced during training.

“We’re all keeping an eye on Andreas (Christensen); he got injured in this training session. He was an option for us for tomorrow, but he got injured, and we have to wait to see the extent of the injury. We hope it’s not much,” said the coach about the defender’s medical situation.

Persistent injury

This injury has caused serious problems for Christensen, keeping him in the shadows and out of the spotlight. Although he is an extraordinary player, the Dane has not been able to showcase his skills this season due to his muscle problems.

In fact, it was Barcelona‘s head coach himself who revealed the specific reason for his new absence from the field. After Barcelona’s press conference, Flick said that Christensen would miss the game due to a recurrence of his right leg injury.

The player landed in Barcelona in 2022. However, this last season has been full of setbacks. He has only played a total of 26 minutes. Despite his big name, Andreas Christensen is the player with the least prominence in the Blaugrana squad.
