Travis Kelce continues to make headlines due to his potential retirement from the NFL. However, he has already committed to playing one more year with the Kansas City Chiefs. In the 2025-26 season, he aims to win the Super Bowl, after the humiliating loss he suffered in February against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Still, there’s uncertainty about when the tight end will make that decision, especially considering his contract expires next summer. Will he have a retirement plan by then, or will he continue in the NFL?
A key to keeping Travis Kelce
According to a report from The Sun, Nick Wright, a friend of the Chiefs star and sports analyst, believes he knows the key to keeping Travis Kelce on the team a little longer. To keep Kelce on the field, Wright believes the Kansas City Chiefs should re-sign wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

He stated this on his show What’s Wright? On Nick Wright: “I told you a year ago that I’m very excited for Tyreek Hill to wear a Chiefs uniform in 2026… Because I think it’s going to happen. It won’t happen this year, but I think it will.”
“And maybe that’s enough to bring Kelce back for another year… A final Tyreek-Kelce ride together into the sunset,” something many NFL fans would love to see. Both players already know each other well, as Hill played six seasons with the Chiefs, who drafted him in 2016. He currently plays for the Miami Dolphins, where he will spend the entire 2025 campaign.
Travis Kelce has been somewhat secretive about whether he will extend his contract with the Chiefs. He said:
“I have one year left on this contract, I know, and we will try to work something out by next year… The Chiefs organization knows how much I love them. I don’t see myself playing anywhere else… We will deal with [2026] in the future when the time is right. But right now, I’m focused on winning a championship this year.”
He could eventually return to share the field with his former teammate, who has hinted at leaving the Miami team after analyzing his recent performance.
