Travis Kelce recently made it clear that he has no issues with Chiefs head coach Andy Reid. On Sunday night, they had a heated exchange that fueled plenty of rumors about a possible feud. However, this kind of situation is very common in the NFL between players and coaches.

The clash happened during Week 3 against the Giants, a game the Kansas City Chiefs won 22-9. Kelce and Reid exchanged words, but according to the tight end, they both treated each other with respect because they understood each other’s intentions.

A feud based only on rumors

According to the New York Post, Travis Kelce said on Friday: “I love that guy, man. Nothing outside this building will make me feel differently… And we know exactly each other’s intentions. I think what Coach Reid does best is challenge guys to be their best… And I love that about him. He definitely helped me take my game to another level.”

Kelce also urged fans to follow “what Coach Reid made of it” to prevent unnecessary comments and rumors about a feud that doesn’t exist. He added: “This team is in a great spot right now… We’ve got a lot of guys motivated to keep fixing things, and as long as we keep seeing that progression every week—which we have—we know we’re just a few plays away from being 3-0 right now… So we just have to make sure we play all four quarters.”

After the game, where cameras caught both arguing on the sideline in the first half, Reid gave his perspective at the press conference: “I love Travis’s passion, man… I’m good with that. We didn’t have enough in the second quarter. It wasn’t where we needed it, so within reason, he knows when to pull back and when to push the pedal… That’s the part I love about him. The guy is all-in. Sometimes, I have to play the cop. He’s an emotional guy,” Reid said, according to ESPN.
