Being at the top and falling hard is never easy to process. That’s exactly what Travis Kelce experienced during the Super Bowl. The Kansas City Chiefs came in as heavy favorites, but were handed a stunning loss. In the aftermath,Kelce felt waves of frustration and emotional weight.

However, Travis Kelce recently shared that during that rough patch, he found a unique outlet. The Chiefs’ tight end turned to Taylor Swift’s musical catalog to help digest the bitter taste of defeat.

Travis Kelce turns to Taylor therapy

Travis Kelce explained that after the loss to the Eagles, music became his way of working through the emotional hit. On the podcast he co-hosts with his brother Jason, Travis described how he dove into Taylor Swift’s entire discography. From introspective tracks like The Archer to the empowering energy of Shake It Off,  Kelce found refuge in his girlfriend’s soundtracks.

“When you’re down, the last thing you need is silence. You need something that speaks to you. And sometimes, that voice comes with rhythm and a name,” Travis Kelce reflected.

Even a sports heart needs a reset

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s relationship has made headlines, but beyond the spotlight is a bond built on emotional support and genuine connection. With the constant pressure of keeping the Chiefs’ dynasty alive alongside Patrick Mahomes, and the rising competition in the AFC,  Kelce has little room for missteps. Yet he allowed himself to feel vulnerable, admitting that even he needs to reset sometimes.

This more human side of Travis Kelce comes as the Chiefs gear up for the 2024 season, chasing another ring and reaffirming their dominance. Kelce—who’s already broken barriers both on the field and off, from his podcast with Jason to guest spots in entertainment—now adds music to his toolkit for recovery.

Taylor Swift: more than just a soundtrack

What’s striking is that Travis Kelce didn’t listen to Swift’s songs out of obligation, but because they resonated deeply. “Her lyrics have layers that anyone can unpack… even someone with a helmet and shoulder pads,” Kelce joked on the podcast. His brother backed him up, recognizing how a song can have cathartic power when it hits at just the right moment.
