Tom Brady had a historic career in the NFL, officially retiring in 2022. He won seven Super Bowls, and last week revealed that he would return to the field. This surprised football fans and created a rumor that made the former star player react.

It is about his participation, as part of Fox Sports and Fanatics, in a flag football tournament. It will take place in Saudi Arabia in 2026, where he will join several NFL stars. The minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders seems ready for this.

A rumor clarified by Brady

According to Athlonsport, the news of Tom Brady’s participation came with additional information. It was claimed he would receive $75 million to compete. This was stated by Barstool Sports CEO Dave Portnoy during an interview on Wake Up Barstool with former NFL coach Jon Gruden and ex-tight end Greg Olsen.

“At $75 million, they paid Brady to do this… the fastest growing game in the world, flag football,” said Portnoy. Olsen replied: “Did he get $75 million? Is that real?” Portnoy answered: “Yes, someone told me that.”

Brady quickly reacted to stop the rumor from spreading. He retweeted the video and captioned it:
“Are we just pulling numbers out of a hat and reporting them? … While we’re breaking news… Elvis is doing the halftime show, Babe Ruth is signing autographs for fans, and I heard Dave prefers floppy pizza. Who cares about facts, right?” He delivered it with his trademark humor.

Brady’s reaction on FOX Sports went viral and drew almost a million views in just one hour. Still, no one has officially confirmed the actual payment amount. Speculation points to a figure over $50 million.
