Drew Brees always stated his desire to be a commentator. However, his time at NBC in 2021 was brief and forgettable. He now has a new opportunity, as FOX announced that he will call the game between the Packers and Giants. The matchup will take place at MetLife Stadium this Sunday. The news generated immediate excitement, and Tom Brady reacted first.

Brees shared a message on Instagram to announce his debut, writing: “Grandes tramas en ambos bandos… ¡Estoy deseando hablar de fútbol con todos vosotros!”. In response, Brady reacted briefly: “Sí”, adding fire emojis.

An interesting analysis before kickoff

According to Essentiallysports, Brees’ breakdown of the matchup created high expectations and highlighted Green Bay’s situation. “Green Bay ha lanzado dos seguidas. Necesitan volver a la normalidad.” He also discussed the Giants. “Y luego los New York Football Giants, el nuevo entrenador Mike Kafka intentando hacerse notar. Y luego Jameis Winston fue el titular. Así que veamos cómo va a quedar. Va a ser un fuego artificial, lo sabes.”

Brees has already shown real potential as an analyst in previous on-air appearances. He filled in for Julian Edelman on FOX programs in Week 3. He also appeared on “Fox NFL Kickoff” and “Fox NFL Sunday.” Additionally, he joined The Herd several times. His role expands even further now after Mark Sanchez’s dismissal.

FOX allowed Brees to keep a previous agreement with Netflix. The network usually restricts its talent from working with competitors. ESPN also expressed concerns, yet Brees will keep the job and call a Christmas Day matchup. He will narrate the Lions-Vikings game, with Noah Eagle joining him.

Another crew will broadcast the Cowboys-Commanders matchup. That team will include Ian Eagle, Nate Burleson, and Matt Ryan. Brees now faces a packed schedule. His return to broadcasting marks a new chapter.
