Shilo Sanders refused to sit still after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers released him. That does not mean he abandoned the NFL, even though he is the son of head coach Deion Sanders.
The Buccaneers cut him after he hit another player during a preseason game. As a result, officials ejected him from the match and the team released him. So far, no other franchise has picked him up.
A confusing outlook for his future
According to the New York Post, Shilo Sanders posted a video on Instagram sharing his feelings about what happened. “First of all, I just want to say I believe in God… I know God always has a plan for me… I feel like this is just part of my story to grow and do bigger and better things. Whether it’s finding another team or getting another chance in the NFL.”

He added: “I had a great time here in Tampa, but everything happens for a reason, and it is what it is… I’ve been talking with my agent and we’re waiting for the next opportunity. If that’s in the NFL, great, but God has blessed me with many talents to do other things besides playing football. I feel like every athlete reaches a point when the game ends for them. And I’m not saying that’s what it is now. I’m just saying that mentally I’m fine.”
At 25 years old, Sanders built a solid reputation, but his unsportsmanlike behavior cost him a harsh sanction. Now he seems to be considering alternatives outside the NFL, including acting, music, or modeling.
He also joked about being grateful to the Buccaneers for giving him a chance after what happened with his brother Shedeur in the draft. “Everyone knows I’m lucky to get an opportunity. Everyone saw what happened with Shedeur, so I knew what was coming if I didn’t get drafted,” he said.
