A quarterback needs to be persistent and always have a game plan. And Russell Wilson of the New York Giants certainly checks those boxes. Only this time, he’s applying that determination to his family life. The player, married to Ciara, already has four children, but he’s set on growing the team—because, in his playbook, four simply isn’t enough.

While his wife, Ciara, isn’t entirely on board, Russell Wilson has launched what can only be called a full-blown campaign for baby number five. He’s even come up with a name for this hypothetical future addition.

Russell Wilson’s dream of expanding the family

Ciara, however, isn’t shy about where she stands. While she adores being a mom, for now, she’s not eager to fulfill Russell Wilson’s dream. The singer is laser-focused on the release of her new single, “Ecstasy,” dropping this April 4.

To mark the countdown, Ciara shared a series of chic, black two-piece ensemble photos on Instagram, teasing the release. Her husband supports her wholeheartedly—even jumping into the comments. But, true to form, Russell Wilson added a playful twist, writing, “I know what you want… #5.” He didn’t stop there, cheekily doubling down with another comment: “Cinco Wilson” via @dangerusswilson.

Dropping hints

Though the photos promote Ciara’s single, Russell Wilson seems determined to make his intentions clear. Fans caught wind of this and jumped in with their take. One cheekily commented, “Hey babe, quick question… what color should the wallpaper for number 5 be?” Ciara, ever the good sport, replied with a laugh, “Let me think about it… BRB 😭🥰😝.”

It’s evident that Russell Wilson has his heart set on adding another member to the crew, but Ciara’s not there just yet. While the Giants’ quarterback might be persistent, Ciara has perfected the art of dodging her husband’s playful advances. He’s even taken to repeatedly suggesting, “Let’s call it Five,” mixing humor with sincerity.

Russell Wilson didn’t stop at Instagram. He even chimed in on a video Ciara shared from the Trinidad Carnival, commenting, “Looks like this is my mating call… Keep drinking that @tentoonerum… Cinco is on its way!” To this, Ciara hilariously responded, “Someone, please come take my husband’s phone away,” accompanied by laughing emojis.

Changes for the Wilsons

Russell Wilson and Ciara have been married for eight years and share four kids—three of whom are theirs together. The eldest is from Ciara’s previous relationship, while their youngest is only a year old. Though Ciara hasn’t ruled out the idea of expanding their family, it’s definitely not on her immediate to-do list.

For now, Russell Wilson will have to refocus his energy on his career with the New York Giants—a significant shift for the family. Meanwhile, Ciara continues to strike her own balance as a mom, a music star, and a businesswoman extraordinaire.
