The next Super Bowl will take place on Sunday, February 8, 2026, and rumors about Taylor Swift’s participation in the halftime show keep increasing. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell addressed the topic, but he did little to stop the speculation.

The halftime show is a major event for NFL fans. Goodell appeared on the “Today” show and, with just one sentence, revealed his opinion about the pop star’s potential performance.

A window of possible approval for Taylor Swift

According to the New York Post, Goodell said: “We would always love for Taylor to perform. She is a very, very special talent, and obviously she would be welcome at any time.” The Super Bowl will be in Santa Clara, California.

When co-host Savannah Guthrie asked if Swift was preparing a performance, the Commissioner replied it was “in process… I can’t tell you anything about that,” before admitting it was a “maybe.”

Regarding when fans will know for sure, Goodell told co-host Craig Melvin: “I’m hoping my friend Jay-Z can help me with that.” Roc Nation, Jay-Z’s company, produces the halftime show. “It’s in his hands. I’m waiting for the smoke to rise,” he explained.

Goodell’s comments came just one week after Taylor Swift announced her engagement to Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce.

This year’s Super Bowl halftime show in New Orleans featured rapper Kendrick Lamar, who collaborated with Taylor Swift on “Bad Blood” in 2014.
