The NFL doesn’t forgive distractions, and this week made that crystal clear. Two franchises that used to headline every Ranking NFLBuffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals—are losing momentum. Meanwhile, teams like the 49ers and Lions are stepping up and gaining ground. The analysis published by The New York Post points to a shift that’s no longer just temporary—it’s structural.

In the latest Ranking NFL, the Bills, led by Josh Allen, were once near the top. But cracks have started to show. Their offense, once known for its explosiveness, now struggles with execution errors and questionable decisions in key moments. The defense, previously a stronghold, has given up ground to opponents who used to be outmatched. At the same time, the Bengals haven’t found their rhythm. Joe Burrow is still recovering physically, and his timing with receivers isn’t what it used to be. The run game remains stagnant.

A sharp contrast

On the other end of the Ranking NFL, the San Francisco 49ers are proving they’re the most complete team in the league. Brock Purdy is no longer a surprise—he’s a steady presence. His control of the offense, paired with a defense that commands respect, keeps the Niners at the top. Kansas City may not be as flashy as in past seasons, but they continue to win efficiently. Patrick Mahomes doesn’t need fireworks to keep stacking victories.

If there’s one team breaking the mold in the Ranking NFL, it’s the Detroit Lions. With an aggressive offense and a defense that holds its own, Dan Campbell’s squad is showing their rise isn’t a fluke. Jared Goff has regained his confidence, and the team plays with contagious energy. Miami also remains a constant threat, with an offensive speed that forces every defense to adjust on the fly.

No team can be underestimated

This season’s Ranking NFL also highlights the growth of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Trevor Lawrence seems to have found his footing, and the defense has taken a step forward. They’re not title contenders just yet, but they’re no longer a team to overlook.

This week didn’t just shift positions—it rewrote narratives. The favorites aren’t defined by name anymore, but by performance. And those who were once just potential are now delivering. The Ranking NFL reads less like a list and more like a living map of power in motion. There’s plenty of football left, and Week 6 proved that anything can change—fast.
