In Week 4 of the NFL season, the Kansas City Chiefs will face the Baltimore Ravens. With that matchup ahead, alarms go off around Patrick Mahomes, as predictions do not favor the Chiefs. They recorded only 306 yards and 22 points against a franchise that lost to the Cowboys just a week earlier.

Currently, the Ravens and the Chiefs stand in almost the same condition. However, experts project a Baltimore victory. Mark Schlereth of FOX Sports warned that Kansas City may be on the verge of a crisis, despite having stars like Mahomes and Travis Kelce.

Chiefs must fix their flaws

According to Essentiallysports, Schlereth said on The Rich Eisen Show: “The Chiefs haven’t blocked well for anyone. They don’t run the ball well… before last weekend, Patrick Mahomes was their leading rusher, so they’re not blocking anyone at all.”

The analyst also noted that Andy Reid has struggled to deliver results in games where he sticks to the running game. Schlereth suggested it may be time to reorganize the team’s strategy.

For Schlereth, the Chiefs’ passing game looks weak, partly due to the absence of Rice and Worthy. Still, Travis Kelce and Hollywood Brown should give the offense some good field position.

Travis doesn’t seem to have the same burst at the top of his route… The star tight end even yelled at his head coach on the sideline over limited usage. But the hardest part? They don’t have a go-to guy. They don’t have one thing to rely on,” Schlereth explained.

He added: “I always say this from my own career playing offense: it’s important to have one thing you do well. Find that thing, then you can disguise it with formations, motions, and shifts—but just execute that one thing.”

In past seasons, the Chiefs thrived on offense, particularly with Mahomes. His ability to make big plays and score points often covered up other weaknesses. However, since the Super Bowl LIX, Mahomes hasn’t fully bounced back.

That represents a big disadvantage for Kansas City, especially considering the Ravens—next week’s opponent—have averaged 40 points in their first two games this season. For this reason, Schlereth predicts Baltimore will win their Week 4 matchup.
