For years, Patrick Mahomes was the definition of offensive brilliance—a quarterback who played like he had superpowers. Broadcasters praised his limitless arm, panoramic vision, and composure under pressure.

But after a 2024 season that lacked sparkle and ended with the Chiefs bruised from a forgettable Super Bowl, the questions started floating: Has he stopped soaring? Is Patrick Mahomes no longer the unbeatable QB? Is the dynasty beginning to fray?

Now he finds himself in unfamiliar territory. Patrick Mahomes is tied with Jalen Hurts on a CBS Sports list ranking players by “heart, heroism, and impressive physical gifts.” And although Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, and Joe Burrow outpaced him in that lineup, Mahomes remains the heartbeat of Andy Reid’s system—a quarterback who could reignite the Chiefs’ dominance at any moment.

Chiefs want their crown back

Kansas City’s defense led the way in 2024, something not easily replicated year over year. As Marca cautions, if the Chiefs want to return to championship form in 2025, the return of MVP-caliber Patrick Mahomes isn’t a luxury—it’s a requirement.

Some now call Patrick Mahomes the “Clark Kent” of Kansas City—no longer living off impossible highlight reels, but relying on sharper game reads, real-time adjustments, and winning through structure. Even without the cape, he’s still among the NFL’s elite.

A stronger Mahomes

There are factors that can’t be ignored. Patrick Mahomes is still healthy, battle-tested, and supported by an improved offensive line plus weapons like Rashee Rice, Marquise Brown, and the ageless Travis Kelce. He doesn’t need to throw no-look passes to silence doubters—he just needs to make those throws count when the lights are brightest and the defenses tighten up.

Even though Patrick Mahomes landed fifth. Tied with Jalen Hurts and behind Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, and Justin Jefferson. There’s no denying he’s still a machine on the field and the unwavering leader of the Kansas City Chiefs.
