Micah Parsons showed up at training camp in Oxnard, California with a message as sharp as his stats. He wants to be in Dallas—but not at any price. In response, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones broke his silence with a provocative tone.

According to the New York Post, during a press conference, Jerry Jones suggested that injuries had played a role in the delay of the contract agreement with Micah Parsons. He also compared the situation to quarterback Dak Prescott, recalling that both missed time during the 2024 season.

Micah Parsons answers back

Still, the star linebacker didn’t sit on the bench when it came to comments. Micah Parsons entered the verbal field with the same explosiveness he uses on the gridiron.

“I want to be here. I’ve always said that. But they sign the checks. Let’s see if they actually want me here in the end,” said Micah Parsons, implying that loyalty shouldn’t be one-sided. His participation in camp was limited but symbolic. He was seen warming up with teammates, showing commitment without risking his health.

Numbers that speak volumes

Last season, Micah Parsons recorded 12 sacks and 12 tackles for loss in just 13 games. These numbers prove that his impact isn’t measured in minutes—it’s measured in intensity. Even though the Cowboys haven’t locked him down with an extension yet, every rep in camp sends a silent message: Parsons is still betting on the team. “It’s not for Jerry or Stephen. It’s for me and for my teammates,” he said, also referencing Stephen Jones, executive vice president of personnel.

All this tension didn’t stay inside the locker room. Former defensive end and NFL legend JJ Watt posted a message on social media backing Micah Parsons and questioning the owner’s remarks. The support didn’t go unnoticed—and neither did  Parsons’ desire for a strategic and respectful approach, like other franchises give their stars.

“When you look around the league and see other teams taking care of their top guys, you wish they had that same energy,” said Micah Parsons, mixing frustration with competitive fire.
