Josh Allen shocked NFL fans and analysts with his physical strength. The Bills quarterback played two games in five days. However, against the Jets, Allen suffered a serious nose injury that left him bleeding, raising questions about his availability for the clash with the Dolphins.
This week proved very tough for the Buffalo Bills, since quarterbacks Joe Burrow, Brock Purdy, Jayden Daniels, Justin Fields, and J.J. McCarthy also went down with injuries. That’s why Allen refuses to leave the field, knowing his franchise needs him now more than ever.
A smart decision at the start of the season
According to The Sports Rush, after the game Josh Allen said: “We can breathe. So, everything is fine.” He chose to play in Week 3 with a visor to protect his nose, since another injury could seriously hurt the Bills’ playoff hopes.
This is not the first time Allen has used a visor. Back in Wyoming practice, he wore one and explained: “Your voice also resonates in it… It’s just a bit strange,” adding that it doesn’t bother him.

Mark Sanchez used the same method in 2011 after breaking his nose against the Raiders. During a sack by Kamerion Wimbley, he took a hard hit to the face. Still, after resetting his nose, Sanchez put on a visor and finished the game.
Allen’s numbers so far
Allen wants to maintain his current pace. In two games, he has completed 47 of 71 passes for 542 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. He has also rushed 20 times for 89 yards and two scores.
The Dolphins face similar issues. Tua Tagovailoa has suffered four concussions, two of them in the 2022 season. That condition forced the league to change concussion protocols. It happened again in Week 2 of 2024, yet Tua remains active in the NFL, though his health worries teammates and team officials.
In short, neither Allen nor Tagovailoa is at 100% for the upcoming matchup. The priority is player safety, as no one wants injuries this early in the NFL regular season.
